Why visit Guanacaste, Costa Rica

Some information on Guanacaste in Costa Rica.

Guanacaste is a giving and warm province, known for its wide fields with cattle, agriculture and breathtaking beaches. Guanacaste has a very dry climate, the driest in Costa Rica. Guanacaste is named after a tree.

As I mentioned in a previous article Guanacaste used to be part of Nicaragua before it became an independent province of Costa Rica in 1824. This province features lots of cultural richness and injects good capital for the economy of Costa Rica. The world’s best hotels, such as Four Seasons, Hilton, Marriot, RIU and much more have built their hotels along the beaches of Guanacaste, Costa Rica.

Most tourists visit this province for the sun and beaches, and they will find this with a wide selection of hotels, bars, restaurants etc. For each budget there is a room, modest to super high end.

One of the popular places is Playa de Coco with lots of nightlife, restaurants and shopping, and easy access to get to several nice beaches. Personally for me this is too focused on tourism, you lose the real Costa Rica feel.

A quiet place with nice beaches to enjoy a tranquil atmosphere is Panama Beach in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Definitely worth the visit.

The leatherback turtles are visitors of Guanacaste as well. There is a natural park designated for the turtles in Playa Grande, which is a sanctuary for thousand of leatherback turtles arriving to lay their eggs each year. A beautiful scenery you can enjoy in Guanacaste, Costa Rica.

Tamarindo is another very popular beach town in Costa Rica, which a wide beach, mangroves and lots of hotels, restaurants and residential communities.

Lots of other beaches not mentioned before such us Samara, Coyote, Papagayo etc are also worth the visit and help to keep the reputation of Guanacaste high on the list of Costa Rica.

Talking about the food, you can enjoy delicious typical dishes, such as rice and beans, tortilla, BBQ, corn etc.  The locals are very friendly to assist you with anything you need.

Santa Rosa is a National Park located in Guanaste Costa Rica featuring beautiful sceneries with flora & fauna and tropical biodiversity. Costa Rica is a small country but count lots of volcanoes, also in Guanacaste there is a spectacular volcano, Rincon de la Vieja surrounded by the natural park where you can enjoy hot springs, waterfalls etc.

So, if you are coming to or are in Costa Rica give Guanacaste a visit with its beaches and natural jewels. Guanacaste has grown a lot in the last 10 years, also because they have an international airport in Liberia, Costa Rica.
